Guide to measuring glasses

Finding the right frame size is essential when buying glasses online. In this brief guide, we will explain everything you need to know to easily choose your next pair of prescription or sunglasses.

How to read the size

If you own a pair of glasses you will be able to see a series of numbers engraved on the inside of the temples, the measurements are given in millimetres.

The size measurements of glasses are primarily expressed with a series of numbers written inside the temple of the glasses:

  1. Size - 49□ 20 145
Misura del diametro orizzontale della lente nel punto di massima ampiezza (corrisponde alla taglia degli occhiali).
  2. Bridge - 49□ 20 145
The part of the frame that rests on the nose and connects the lenses (corresponds to the distance between the lenses).
  3. Height
Measurement of the vertical diameter of the lens at the widest point inside the frame. The lens height is particularly important when measuring bifocal or progressive lenses.
  4. Temple - 49□ 20 145
The length of the temple is measured in full, from the end to the connection with the front of the glasses.
